Description

Messier 42 never ceases to amaze me. On the one hand it is easy to image because it is bright, and yet I always find it tough to process - the balance between the colours being one thing, not to mention the trapezium area as well - hoping not to over stretch it. I cannot tell you how many versions of this I processed, and my frustrated dissatisfaction with all of them. That said, I have now settled on this final edition, which I feel is my best one - although when you have spent hours trying to get the best out of your data, I found I could not longer see the wood for the trees! I am not sure it is quite right even now... So, this is it, I can spend no more time on it. I took 48 Has at 3 minutes in length each, plus 28 Has at 15s too, for the core, and 70 OIIIs, plus 26 Has at 15s for the core also. Thus the imaging time was 6 hours and 7 minutes. Thanks everyone...
