Description

Still on my quest to complete the Messier imaging task, this makes the 88th Messier object imaged. The weather/sky conditions were not all that great and I only got 30 Blue subs while the rest were much larger in count. I sometimes just do a quick-and-dirty image capture and subsequent process to get my Messier count up in the contest, but I spent quite a bit of time on this one. Partially because it is a cool galaxy, partially because it is only the second major DSO I've imaged with my EdgeHD (which is now back in service on the new mount) and partially because I wanted to see how my attempt at M102 compares to Gary Imm's version using the same OTA and camera. He got better detail in the dust lane (Gary's M102).
