Description

The Seagull Nebula a lovely object whose head is IC 2177 is a roughly circular H II region centered on the Be star HD 53367. The Seagull is a region of nebulosity that borders Monoceros and Canis Major at roughly 3600 light years distant.

This image was taken over several nights using a 6" F/6.45 Melior Apo, and a QHY 600 Pro with Astrodon RGB and 5nm Halpha filters, Gain at 56 and offset at 64.
