Description

So this is my second DSO target. I think acquiring the data for this target was quite easy (easy to find it without GoTo mount and easy to frame it) but it was quite a rough ride to edit them…Oh God, soooo many stars and so difficult to reveal the data underneath them…

Finally after many many hours (surely were days…) I’ve ended up with this image. I am pretty sure that this is as far as I can go at the moment. I’ll certainly come back to process them from scratch, but until them, please feel free to comment below so I could learn from my mistakes.

I’ve used only Pixinight with the following steps:

Data collection: 10 days with 28 Celsius degrees ambient temperature, my stock Canon 77D, and a Triband filter.

Lights: 141x3’

Darks, Flats, Bias used

Processes (steps):

DynamicBackgroundExtraction

SCNR

BackgroundNeutralization

EZDecon

EZDenoise

HistogramTransformation (manual stretch)

EZ Star Reduction (Adam Block method) x 3 times

Starnet++ (remove stars)

RangeMask for LocalHistogramEqualization & MultiscaleLinearTransform

PixelMath to add the masked “boosted” nebula with the original image
