Description

NGC 3132 EightBurst Nebula (in SHO)

Description:
- The Eight Burst Nebula, or NGC 3132, is 2,300 light years away from Earth which is close in the scheme of astronomical distances!
- It is named the Eight Burst Nebula since it looks like it is made up of multiple rings.
- Dust lanes are visible across the central core.
- It is a small nebula in the sky, but is still 0.7 light years across.
- This version is based on narrowband data. It is a combination of captured frames using the narrow bandwidths of Hydrogen (Alpha), Oxygen and Sulphur (SHO) which have been merged to form the image.  It can be considered to be artifical colour.  This approach captures more structure in the nebula.

Details:
- Captured on 14-Jun-22.
- Celestron Edge 11 (280mm aperture, focal length 2800mm, f/10).
- ZWO ASI1600MM Pro monochrome camera (cooled to -10 DegC).
- EQ8Rh Pro mount, ASIair.
- 20x 60sec captures of each of S, H and O images, using Astrodon 5nm filters (1 hour).
- 20x 60sec each of Dark frames, Flats, Flat Darks and Bias frames.
- Processed in PixInsight and Topaz Sharpen AI.
- Image size and resolution reduced for Facebook.

Location:
- APT Building, Siding Spring Observatory, Coonabarabran, NSW, Australia.
