Description

The Eagle Nebula, also known as M16, is an emission nebula found in the Serpent constellation, 7,000 light-years from us.

This nebula consists of a young stellar cluster associated mainly with ionized hydrogen.

What makes this nebula very famous are the three very dense structures of gas and dust created by the action of the stellar wind of the giant stars of the central open cluster.

These structures are called Pillars of Creation.
