Description

The clouds and the smoke haze from the bushfires currently affecting NSW cleared for a single night. I managed 4 hours of 5 minute subs at Gain 111 offset 10 using my new ZWO183MM-Pro.

Processed in PixInsight, this is the first time I’ve successfully used Deconvolution, although a few of the brighter stars have some weird halos, so I guess I need to work on tweaking some of the settings.

Hopefully the fires are brought under control in the near future and the haze clears. I would love to double the integration time and then add the same for OIII and SII.

Description: Still no chance to image, in fact the bushfire crisis has become even worse with fires spread over more than half of the east coast of Australia.

So I have been working on existing data. I have spent much time learning how to use MureDenoise and Deconvolution in PixInsight and have spent a large amount of time learning how to more carefully stretch the data so it stays natural. I also put the background through Topaz Denoise AI to further reduce the background noise. I imagine this last step will become less important once I have the opportunity to gather 10-15 hours more data.
