Like so many, my first glimpses of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter through a friend's simple 60 mm refractor hooked me to astronomy in the mid 1970's. I ground the mirror for my first telescope at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago under the guidance of Richard Fagin, an accomplished professional violinist and optician. Comets Hale-Bopp and Hyakutake motivated me to buy my first Celestron 11. I have upgraded to a Celestron Edge 11 HD, Astro-Physics Gran Turismo 130 mm f 6.3, and a Coronado 90 mm solar scope. My capabilities in astrophotography have be slowly improving but I am just in the early stages of figuring out how to use PixInsight and only recently actually formally calibrated any of my images. I know the sky is the limit but so is time under clear and dark skies.
