I currently live in Saint Michael, Minnesota, and have been into astronomy almost all of my life. I ordered my telescope in December of 2020 with the help from my friends for my 30th birthday to kickstart this hobby that I have wanted to start throughout my 20s. While the telescope itself was on backorder for a total of 5 months, this allowed me to acquire all of my other gear to complete my rig, and first light was in May of 2021 in my bortle 7 backyard. Since then, I have been getting my telescope out there on as many clear nights as I could, building my experience on collecting data and learning the ropes on post processing.
Since then, I have been able to travel a few times to dark skies, which has been the most fun and rewarding experiences in this hobby. I am fortunate to have access to private land in a bortle 3 zone fairly regularly, and have loved the photos I have captured so far from there. My most memorable place (at this time) was the boundary waters in northern MN, where I purchased the TPO 180 Ultrawide and iOptron Skyguider Pro to bring up there and capture DSOs in bortle 1 skies. Unbelievable experience.
This hobby is definately challenging, but a lot of fun!
