Just started my astrophotography journey (again).
I was inspired like many, as a child, seeing the rings of Saturn through a cheap department store refractor. My Dad seeing my enthusiasm stepped up and we got an original orange tube C8. I fondly remember sitting on my balcony in Fort Lee, NJ that faced the New York City light dome. I feverishly dialed in RA and DEC to get a peek at a new Messier or NGC object, writing notes and recording my impressions on an old tape recorder. Then I put our Konica SLR on the back made my first attempts at astrophotography. Tri-X, Panatomic-X even had a go at some IR sensitive films. I was very proud of the blurry images of the moon and planets. I don't recall ever making the attempt at any DSO but I might have tried M42.
Anyway, I'm gonna give this a try 45 plus years later and see what I can accomplish.
