SNR A collection by Gary Imm

Supernova remnants (SNR) are some of the most fantastic objects in the sky. The fine tendrils seen throughout each nebula are ionized hydrogen, oxygen and sulfur gas fronts, ejected in the supernova explosion. The different colors are reflective of the variation in the strengths of these gas shock waves. Each SNR continues to expand outward, changing the details of its appearance slightly each year. Over 300 SNRs have been catalogued in our Milky Way.
