I was fascinated with astronomy when I was 15. I joined a school astronomy club and had a great time exploring the heavens with a local state park telescope. I wanted more than anything to build my own telescope over summer break, but it just wasn't in the cards.

Then high school started at the end of summer and I met my first serious girlfriend. All hobbies immediately took second place and I forgot about astronomy for many years. Occasionally I would look up at the clear night sky and think about getting back into astronomy, but never did.

Then, in March 2012, my 11 year old son came home from school and told me they were studying astronomy in science class and he really wanted a telescope. Of course I had to oblige.

I am now hopelessly addicted and have started astrophotography as well. I've been a nature and people photographer for many years and this seemed a natural progression. I'm having a blast, and since I'm happily married, no girlfriend will distract me again :)
