Description

Astrophotography - revealing what lies behind what our eyes can see.

I've dreamed of a shot like this for a while. We are so tiny and irrelevant compared to everything in outer space. My sister was standing on a hill and I photographed her from further down. She was looking at the Milky Way but could barely see it. After taking a short exposure of her, she stepped aside and I turned on my tracker to take long exposure images of the Milky Way (4x 1min ISO 400). Then I took another 3 images of the upper part of the Milky Way to create a mosaic in post. I was blown away as I saw the nebulae on my LCD screen. I didn't expect to be able to capture them with an unmodified DSLR, nor did I expect them to be THAT big.

Location: Bavaria (Germany), bortle 4 (very close to b3)
