Description

Supernova 2022hrs in galaxy NGC 4647 was discovered by Koichi Itagaki on April 16th, 2022. The Supernova is currently brighter than the entire galaxy NGC 4647. The large elliptical galaxy next to it is Meiser 60 and these two galaxies are interacting. The image it is being compared to is from the Hubble Space Telescope before the Supernova was visible as NGC 4647 is ~63 million light years away.

This unguided image was captured, in a Queen Creek (Arizona) Bortle 7 backyard, using a Celestron EdgeHD 11" telescope with a 0.7x focal reducer. The telescope is mounted on a 10Micron GM2000 HPS II mount. The camera is a ZWO ASI 2600MC Pro using a Astodon OSC UV-IR Cut filter. The image is comprised of 175 200 second exposures. It was captured over 3 nights (4-29-2022 to 5-1-2022). The images were stacked/processed in Pixinsight and fine-tuning done in Photoshop.
