Description

The Crescent Nebula (NGC6888) and Soap Bubble Nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. The Crescent (top center) is 5000 light years away and is formed by two colliding winds originating from a central star. The Soap Bubble Nebula (middle left) is interesting in that it was only discovered in 2007. It is believed to be a planetary nebula. It is much easier to see on the cropped second photo and looks like a perfect transparent circle. I used some new processing techniques on this one. I had a halo around the bright star caused by the oxygen filter. I made a circular mask using Pixelmath in Pixinsight to be able to darken the halo and make it disappear. I then used the same technique with 2 masks to process the Soap Bubble Oiii separately from the rest of the image. This allowed for the soap bubble to be a bit brighter without washing out the rest of the image. Over 8 hours of subs at f/2 on this one, my longest yet!
