Description

If I only could only faintly remember the time I was 19 days old... anyway,

Because of thin high clouds, turbulent air and wind gusts, I merely wanted to make a few quick videos of Rima and Crater Burg gracefully engulfed in shadow and pick the best one in spite of a nimbus around the moon -- somehow also above my head.(*ノωノ).

Then, on-screen, I found Mare Nectaris at late dawn, Rupes Altai casting long shadows, the rugged lunar south and finally craters Plato, Archimedes, Aristoteles, Exodus and again Burg in a single view. Irresistable! This session has been ended by a "hard disk full" message, obviously because I recorded at least three 12.5GB videos of each region hoping to get a good yield even under unfavorable conditions. It was worth it AS!3 is a miraculous performer in both stacking and pre-sharpening. By the way, for smooth recording without dropping frames and slowing down FPS you need a fast SSD disk to obtain best results with the amazing ASI290/ASI462 cameras. Geared up with a high frame rate you will be fast enough to outsmart clouds.

In one of my recent posts I may have conveyed that Japanese people are not comfortable with English. This is not exactly the case. One of the best English speakers (singers) is the AKB48 girls group, as their debut song goes:

"I want you!♫ I need you!♫ I love you^^♪♪♪♪♪♪..."

If you don't like it... (link to a photo on Twitter, Youth free from 3 years.)

Yes, they studied English in America. Surfaced in 2011, AKB48 are still the most popular entertainment J-Pop group in Japan, very cute, or in English: "kawaii".

Now let's return from Japan to the safer, culture-rich Kingdom of the Ryukyus (aka Okinawa). The final image is a composite of three panels, each a stack of 600 frames taken with an ASI462MC at 1.26ms, gain 100, 138fps, raw-8, IR-cut, 1.5x drizzled, as is revision B in natural color. Revision C is a monochrome stack of 600 frames taken with an ASI290MM at 2ms, gain 150, 83fps, mono-8, 12-bit ADC (high speed OFF), IR742nm, 1.5x drizzled. All other images in the revision section, too, are monochrome stacks of 600 frames through an IR742nm filter, 10ms average exposure, gain 200, 83fps, mono-8, 12-bit ADC, 1.5x drizzled.

Since a typhoon is passing nearby with a thick cloud layer I won't bother you with new photos and stories for a while. You all, please make sure to stay safe!
