Description

The Angel Nebula is made up of Integrated Flux Nebulosity (IFN), which according to Steve Mandel is dust lit up by by the energy from the integrated flux of all the stars in the Milky Way. In general IFN is rarely imaged, probably because it is so very faint that a dark site as well as a scope that can gather a lot of light are needed for a good result. This particular one is more imaged than most IFN with about 20 images posted on Astrobin.

A careful look reveals a bunch of galaxies hiding behind the dust.

I continue using the Star Xterminator filter in PS to get better control of my star fields, which is particularly needed for the very faint Integrated Flux Nebulae (IFN). Here I have used this in processing two merged data sets gathered during three nights 1 - 5 April 2021. The result is a much brighter nebulosity and a better controlled star field than in my previous attempts.
