Description

Mars attacked my planned mosaic imaging session.

I had planned a mosaic of of the IC2087 nebula area for a few days and my imaging session began long after I had hit the sack.  When I noticed this in the subframes a few days later I was surprised and somewhat disappointed since it had 'ruined' my data.  I stopped the nightly imaging sessions I had planned.  After further debate I decided to process them regardless.  In NINA I had planned the project, but of course it doesn't account for planet motion in the framing assistant.  Lesson learned, always check to where our neighbors are before beginning a new project.

Looking deep into the constellation of Taurus we find a massive area of dark nebulae containing gas and dust illuminated only by the nearby stars.  In this image we can see several dark nebulae, a planetary nebula, and two distant galaxies.  The galaxies are visible through the tendrils of our Milky Way and are millions of light years away.

Clear skies and clear minds!
