Description

I tend to get a bit bored with collecting yet more data on the usual galaxies this time of year so sometimes go after some more wacky stuff.
I found about 45mins of data I took last year on QSO 3C 273 that I'd forgotten about as it's so exciting! Anyway as the first quasar discovered (and the brightest) it's notable enough to have its own Wikipedia page and even a Hubble image. A bit like the Messier objects something to cross off a list!
Stats for 3C 273 are:
Magnitude +12.9
Redshift 0.158 (very pedestrian compared to 3.911 for APM 08279+5255 I got around the same time)
Distance 2.5 billion light years (described as the most distant object amateurs could see visually - APM 08270+5255 is 12.7 billion but mag 15.2)
It's located in Virgo so lurking close to NGC4420.
I suppose M40 might beat this in the 'dull' stakes but needs must!
