Crab Nebula (M1) is a supernova remnant Taurus. The nebula was discovered in 1731, and corresponds with a bright supernova recorded by Chinese astronomers in 1054. At the center of the nebula lies a neutron star about 20 miles across with a spin rate of 30 times/second, which emits pulses of radiation from gamma rays to radio waves.
