Description

Often imaged (1,422 images in past year, but only 10 awards).  Do we and the judges get tired of looking at it?   BUT WAIT there’s so much going on in this complex are.   Please take a look at the cropped revisions, B,C,D,E and F.

About the Trunk: It is 20LY’s tall!  It conceals many young protostars that are in the process of forming…several very young (less than 100,000 years) stars that were discovered in infrared images in 2003. Two older (but still young, a couple of million years), stars are present in a small, circular cavity in the head of the globule. Winds from these young stars may have emptied the cavity.

I love the jumping frogs in version B...I passed the rorschach test!  Yeah they are upside down, but I find the pillar below them compelling.  The caravan of animals going up to the trunk in C has always fascinated me...solar winds the cause?  I'd sure like to know more about what the pillars in version D are all about.

Note: All captured from B7 backyard.  BlurXT seems to bring out Hubble like detail.  Yes, a game changer for us backyard imagers, but is it just bringing out the detail that’s there or creating it out of thin air?  In any case, I like what it does to the stars and detail.
