Description

I was going through some old files and found this; one of my first images taken about 4 years ago. It was one of those "oh Wow" moments when the final image popped up after some basic processing with MaximDL5. I was hooked and now that I'm retired, I can enjoy more evenings and early mornings honing my skills and hopefully get the continuity of experience that helps improve the learning curve each time I go out. Of course, this is a popular target for beginners as it is bright and fairly easy to image. I'm especially fond of the Trifid as it shares it's designation NGC-6514 with a C-130 flying squadron I was assigned to before I retired from the US Air Force; the 6514 Test Squadron. I used the Starizona's Hyperstar with my Celestron 1100 Edge HD SCT.
