Description

NGC 4274 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Coma Berenices. It is approximately 45 million light years from Earth and is about 95,000 light years across. The galaxy shows a small but very bright core, surrounded by mottled arms that form a continuous ring. The fainter outer arms are quite uniform and have merged into an oval glow.

Location: Blue Mountain Vista Observatories,New Ringgold PA

Optics: Celestron EdgeHD 1100 on Paramount MX

Camera: Sbig STL-11000 for RGB

Optics: Starizona Hyperion f/8 12.5 inch, FL 2540 mm on Paramount ME

Camera: Apogee U8300 for Lum

Guiding: ST-402 on Innovations Foresight On-Axis Guider and STL-11000 Self guiding

Exposure: LRGB: L:38x10 R:26x5 min, G:19x5 min, B:19x5 min for a total of 17.34 hrs (102 subs at avg of 412 sec)

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop.
