Description

This image captures a group of small galaxies located 300 million light years away in the constellation of Lacerta at a declination of +39 degrees. I could find no detailed information on them. This group is making their first appearance on Astrobin, so please understand if they appear a bit nervous in their debut.

There are 3 primary members of this group. All 3 of these galaxies are about 1.7 arc-minutes in diameter and have diameters of about 130,000 light years.

The beautiful symmetric grand spiral galaxy in the center is NGC 7228. The thinner spiral at right is NGC 7227, and the large elliptical at left is UGC 11950 (or PGC 68286).

Some of the other galaxies in this view are likely also members of this group, but I could not find distance information for them.
