Description

Here is about 4.08 hours of data collected from my home under moderately light polluted skies. My skies are about a Mag 20.4 or a Bortle 5. My city is not very big, maybe 70,000 people and due south from my home, north is mountains, there is a city maybe 20 miles east, and west is pretty rural so I was surprised to find a better SNR than I anticipated given my previous results, although the moon greatly impeded last weekends efforts. Now that I am using ASIAIr, multiple night imaging sessions are a simple task and everything is automated.

In this image we have the Christmas tree cluster, the cone nebula, and off to the left is hubbles variable nebula. This area is mostly made up of ionized hydrogen and ionized oxygen. There are some reflective nebula in this region and there is also alot of dark nebular regions. I had to spend a while processing this because htere was still a gradient, probably from the moon coming up around midnight. I alos tried adding color to my stars by masking in my low gain subs, unfortuntately I did not realize until later that I had not registered the 60s subs to the main image and it created these weird greenish magenta halos that almost look like chromatic abberation. Oh well this was really just one of many test images. I am pumped to get back to the dark site and get some deep integrations with this setup.
