Description

Since the weather does not really allow me to take images over the next months and since this was to be expected I collected in Spring hopefully enough data to keep me "alive", doubt it though since there are not that many data that I could collect and which I did not already process. We will see, maybe some strange weather pattern arrives and we will have some clear night, not for the next 2 weeks though according to the weather forecast!

This is NGC 4565, also known as the Needle Galaxy or Caldwell 38. I saw many images of it here on Astrobin and was always intrigued by it, what a perfect angle to us. Only civilizations and the edge of the galaxy would be even able to see our Milky Way, what a shame for them 😊😊. At a distance of 42.7 ± 12 Mly or 53 ± 4 Mly (still pretty good distance measurements, just think how far this is away from us) our Milky Way must shine nicely. And for them not an edge on view, wonder what it would look like!

The image was done with the old trusty 1600, and after some processing with the 6200 I must admit, this is not as excruciating, the sizes of the 6200 images are indeed quite something. And ... the newest PI version can handle those 1600 images in WBPP without major problems, another indicator that the memory management in the new WBPP under Windows is not done correctly.

Even with galaxy season being over, I still torment you with one of them LOLOL.
