Description

The Rosette Nebula is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter.

About 5200 Light Years away, in the last and first quarter it can be found between Procyon and Betelgeuse in the Northern Hemisphere.

Imaged over 2 evenings after I got my new scope, before I added guiding and before I got a flattener/reducer.

28 x 240s @ ISO 800

46 x 180s @ ISO 1600

Total integration ~ 4 hours

Stacked in Astro Pixel Processor, stars removed in StarNet++ and subtracted from the stacked image. Background and stars processed separately in Adobe Photoshop.
