Arp 35

This Astrobin Debut Object, also known as UGC 212, is a disturbed barred spiral galaxy located 220 million light years away in the constellation of Pisces at a declination of -1 degrees. This galaxy spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a Milky Way sized diameter of 110,000 light years.

In his Arp catalog, Dr. Arp classified this object into the category of Spiral Galaxies – Integral Sign.

Arp 35 consists of both UGC 212 and the small spiral galaxy below it, LEDA 1431. Both are a similar distance away from us. These 2 galaxies could be interacting to create the disturbance seen in the UGC 212 disk.

My mind wants to draw a star stream bridge between these 2 galaxies but I am afraid that it is not quite there. The Arp image captures more detail and shows at least part of the stream.
