Description

Inspired by a recent presentation of Lunar photography, decided to test the ability to use the large cooled CMOS camera that I use for DSO's on the moon. Prior to deep sky imaging on 22 March, I took a series of Lum and Red filter shots of our Moon and then stacked them separately using Autostakkert 3. This image is the result of stacking and then sharpening the best 15% on the Red filter images. I was very surprised I was able to get such reliable and short exposures using the QHY 600 Mono and pleased with the results. It withstands magnification relatively well, with additional detail visible throughout. Shot through an AP130 EDFGT (with GTX focuser and field flattener). The Red filter seems to preserve highlights better than the Lum and without detracting from detail or contrast (after a little adjustment in Photoshop). I have brightened the image to taste and to what seems most natural.
