Description

This is from data I captured almost three years ago on a dark sky trip to Big Bend. It was captured with a ZenithStar 61 that was piggy-backed on my C11. When I initially processed it, it was just terrible. There were big blue diffraction spikes on the stars and blue streaks all through the data. I could never figure out what was causing that, so I abandoned this data. I ran across it again yesterday and decided to do a deeper look with the benefit of three years of experience in this avocation.

Turns out that the issue was with the flats I took at the time. When I processed it without the flats, it looked pretty clean. So I processed it as best I could and this is the result. It's the only image of Stefan's Quintet that I have, so I was very pleased that it came out as well as it did in the wake of the JWST making that object more well known.
