Description

Most of this data was acquired at the Staunton River Star Party (SRSP) on 10/22-10/23. I collected the last of the data on 11/1 here in WV for a total of 13.2 hrs of integration. This is the longest integration I’ve ever obtained to date. The beautiful Tadpoles Nebula or IC 410 showcases tenuous golden brown nebulosity along with obscuring dust in the foreground. An embedded star cluster energizes this virtual lagoon. The copious amounts of UV light produced by those massive stars erode and sculpt the nebula into what we see now. The most prominent feature is two columns of dust and gas carved into shapes resembling tadpoles for which the nebula gets its namesake. These dusty tadpoles are 10 light years long! And this placid cosmic lagoon lies some 10,000 light years distant and can be glimpsed in the constellation Auriga.

Description: I implemented the tone mapping technique here after re-processing it from scratch. Invariably, the color scheme ended up different and I like it more so I embraced the new colors.
