Here is my 3 panel mosaic of M8-The Lagoon Nebula, M20-The Trifid Nebula, and the IC 1274 Nebulae Group in Ha and OIII. This image includes roughly 5 hours of data taken over several nights during August. This part of the sky is only visible to me from my house for roughly 1 hour a night during the summer thanks to a few large trees in my backyard so it required quite a few nights to capture 3 different panels. As these objects are relatively close to the horizon and in the part of my night sky which is most affected by light pollution I'm limited to imaging them in narrowband. My attempts to capture these objects in broadband resulted in very washed out frames with a ton of noise.

There is a lot going on in this one image, in addition to the Lagoon Nebula, it includes the Trifid Nebula located in the upper right which includes a red Ha emission nebula and a blue reflection nebula. Also prominent in the image is the nebula grouping which includes IC 1274, IC 1275 and NGC 6559 to the left of the Lagoon Nebula. Finally at the bottom left you can see a small globular cluster, NGC 6544.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
