Description

This object is a tiny planetary nebula located 10,500 light years away in the constellation of Hercules at a declination of +12 degrees. This PN spans just 12 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which is a bit bigger than the apparent average size of the planet Mercury to us. This is the smallest DSO object that I have attempted to image. Sigga needs her reading glasses for this one, for sure!

The actual diameter of this PN is 0.7 light years. The central star is clearly visible. The color of this PN is commonly described as emerald, which looks right to me. This is the 71st object in Stephen James O'Meara's Secret Deep DSO Catalog.

This object has the nickname of the White Eyed Pea. I guess it fits fine, but I think this delicate deep space object deserves better than to be compared to one of my least favorite vegetables.
