The new OIII filter was used here for the second time, I am very happy with it

After many weeks, finally an astro image again. First all the rain, then a lot of snow. ... and then a few clear nights in freezing cold down to -15 ° to -18 °. You don't want to be outside for long, brrrrrrrrr!

At the feet of the constellation Gemini are a few interesting objects. Messier 35 (top right), an open star cluster. Distance about 2,800 light years. In close proximity, a little to the right below Messier 35, is the compact open star cluster NGC 2158. NGC 2158 looks so small because it is much further away, 16,200 light years. In the center of the image, IC 443 or SH2-248, a supernova remnant about 5,000 light years away. IC443 is also called Jellyfish Nebula because of its shape. The astronomer Max Wolf discovered the galactic nebula on September 25, 1892. Lower right is the galactic nebula NGC 2174, also called the Monkey Head Nebula. NGC 2174 is about 6,400 light years away and was discovered by Édouard Stephan on February 6, 1877.

Zu Füßen des Sternbildes Zwillinge sind ein paar Interessante Objekte. Messier 35 (oben rechts), ein offener Sternhaufen. Entfernung ca. 2 800 Lichtjahre. In direkter Nähe, etwas rechts unterhalb zu Messier 35 befindet sich der kompakte offene Sternhaufen NGC 2158. NGC 2158 wirkt so klein, weil er wesentlich weiter entfernt ist, 16 200 Lichtjahre. In der Bildmitte, IC 443 oder SH2-248, ein Supernovaüberrest, etwa 5 000 Lichtjahre entfernt. IC443 wird aufgrund seiner Form auch Quallennebel genannt. Der Astronom Max Wolf entdeckte den galaktischen Nebel am 25. September 1892. Weiter unten rechts ist der galaktische Nebel NGC 2174, auch Affenkopfnebel genannt. NGC 2174 ist etwa 6 400 Lichtjahre entfernt und wurde am 6. Februar 1877 durch Édouard Stephan entdeckt.
