Description

NGC 6340 is a lenticular Galaxy (S0-Aa) in the Draco constellation.

At a distance of about 52 million light-years, NGC 6340 is considered very old and was likely formed by the collision of a spiral and an elliptical, galaxie.

Close to NGC 6340 are two smaller galaxies : IC 1251 and IC 1254, at 52 and 55 millions light-years.

Also a lot of others distant galaxies in the background.

Two excellent nights in a row, imaging before moonrise.
