Description

I took a look at comet atlas both before and after the nucleus had its break-up event. Here I took a few images to see what the nucleus looked like a few days after the first reports of its nucleus breaking apart on April 5th.

Its a short exposure at bin 1x1 to get a look at the nucleus at 0.5 arc seconds per pixel (in the inset). The rest of the image is sampled down 50% since it was rather noisy due to the short integration time of 210 seconds (a stack of seven images, each of 30 one second exposures)

You can see a couple of pieces at the head followed by a diffuse oval with no discernible structure. It was a lot dimmer here than it had been three weeks earlier when I initially imaged it.
