Description

This small Abell PN, also known as PK015-03.1, is located 7000 light years away in the constellation of Sagittarius at a declination of -17 degrees.  It is a magnitude 16 PN which spans 1 arc-minute in our apparent view.  This corresponds to the typical PN diameter of 2 light years.

I do not see a central progenitor star for this nebula.  The bright foreground orange star appears to be superimposed over the nebula.

Like many PN, the outer rim is stronger in HII.  The PN looks bi-polar in nature and we appear to have an inclined view so that it looks a bit like a short cylinder.  The shape and structure remind me a bit of Abell 84.
