Spider Moon!

Description

It's been awhile since I have posted anything to AB. FINALLY got some time to get back to astrophotography. We have had great weather here in Missouri this summer for all things astro, but I was only able to get out on a few nights.

We have always called these spiders "Halloween Spiders" since they are orange and black, and because they are most numerous in October. However, this year, these guys got a very early start! They are literally everywhere outside and I frequently walk through their webs at night... Their scientific name is Neoscona crucifera (Hentz Orb-weaver).

Here is one on my back porch, literally hanging out with the Moon, Jupiter, and Antares.

Thanks for looking!
