Description

I moved to a hill (Bortle Class 6 Sky), in order to have view of the nebula for as much time as possible. However, clouds arrived fast and I only managed to capture 83 decent light frames before the clouds took over the night sky.

I think that the final image is a bit noisy, but I am glad that  I captured it, since last 5 days are really rainy hear in Athens.

I used my Nikon D3300 full spectrum modified DSLR and my Sky Watcher Black Diamond 150/750 on the Sky Watcher EQ3-2 mount. ISO 1600, 30 sec Shutter speed.

Thanks for checking!

The North America Nebula covers a region more than ten times the area of the full moon, but its surface brightness is low, so normally it cannot be seen with the unaided eye.

The portion of the nebula resembling Mexico and Central America is known as the Cygnus Wall. This region exhibits the most concentrated star formation.

The distance to the North America has long been controversial, because there are few precision methods for determining how far away an HII region lies. The whole HII region Sh2-117 is then 140 light years across, and the North America Nebula stretches 90 light years north to south.
