Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a small galaxy group located 0.5 billion light years away in the constellation of Andromeda at a declination of +26 degrees.  All 4 galaxies are about the same distance away, although only the 2 left galaxies appear like they may be interacting.

The largest and brightest galaxy is Hickson 1a, also known as UGC 248.  This magnitude 14.4 galaxy spans 1 arc-minute in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 130,000 light years.
