This capture is the last of my long over due projects to process. I had initially shot the entire first night of the upper portion (ngc 7822) without polar aligning. My next night was more successful and then I decided to try to manual align for a 2 panel mosaic. It was mostly successful, but I had to crop more of the sides and the top of the image than I wanted. I utilized the photometric mosaic script in PI and found it to yield a nice image despite me shooting at 3 and 4 min subs for different parts of the image. In the future, I will trial the Rokonon 135 mm at this region to give it context, but this two panel moasic cover a section 3 x almost 5 degrees.

SH2-171 is a large molecular cloud in the Constellation of Cepheus hydrogen emission region. It's located 3000 light years from earth. The area contains NGC 7822 star cluster in the center and the top right cluster of Berkely 59. I find the most intriguing part of the image to the large pillars projecting towards the middle of SH2-171. Sh2-170 forms the period portion of the question mark.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
