Description

This is probably the detailed image of Messier 31 i took so far. It has seen nearly 14 hours of integration time from three different nights. The seeing was okay on one night and good on the two others. One night it was very humid, the other two nights were okay. The resulting image looks good for me, but maybe i should have been less aggressive regarding stretching. A bit darker and a bit more contrast would probably bring out more details - i don't know, maybe i'll reedit the image. Anyways, the galaxy reveals a lot of details for a 90 mm-scope, i am really happy with it :-)

The processing was again fully done in PixInsight, using the WBPP-script in its latest version. I had to buy another SSD, because PI needs nearly half a terabyte for this :-)

[Update I 2021-11-02] I added about 480 frames of shorter exposures and reedited the image. I wanted to produce a real HDR image, but the difference was so less that i instead decided to integrate all images into one. This time i post-processed more carefully to bring out more details, enhance contrast and don't oversaturate the image. I think it is some sort of personal taste, but the seconed revision looks more natural for my eyes.

[Update II 2021-11-02] Well, despite the fact that the difference in long and short exposures was not so high, i decided to edit the real HDR image and found out that it was worth it :-)
