Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a lenticular galaxy located 120 million light years away in the constellation of Bootes at a declination of +51 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.4 galaxy which spans 1.7 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 60,000 light years.

This galaxy has both a lens inner disk and a lens outer disk.  Usually galaxies with those characteristics have a strong void ring outside the inner lens.  This galaxy has a faint dark ring in that location but it is not as strong as most other similar objects.
