Description

This is a quick, first-pass edit. The sub-exposures were unguided. (And it shows. The tracking was not optimal due to a polar-alignment error.) M8 was only twenty degrees high at the time (it doesn't get much higher than that where I am) and embedded in a noticeable light dome.

Stacked in Sequator. Dynamic Background Extraction in PixInsight LE. Stretched using rnc-color-stretch. Further curves work and touch-up in GIMP. The image has been modestly cropped to remove the worst of the edge artifacts caused by overly-aggressive manual dithering. Some remain but I wouldn't have much image left if I cropped them out too! They would go away with a lot more subs.

The Meade LXD55 SN6 is a 6-inch f/5 Schmidt-Newtonian.
