Description

Personally, I don't see a 'crab', but I really don't like seafood, anyway, so . . . The progenitor star's explosion that resulted in this nebula was seen back in 1054 by Chinese scholars, but I didn't get a single text or email - shame. Readily visible in even small telescopes and binoculars, the alpha entry in Messier's catalogue lies about 6,500 light years away, and resides at the tip of the southern-most horn of Taurus the Bull.
