Dear Starfriends

In mid-August, the publisher Spektrum der Wissenschaft informed me that one of my narrow-band images is to be published in the next issue (10/2022) of the astronomical journal "Sterne und Weltraum". I was surprised that it was then immediately a two-sided imprint. It can be seen on pages 72 and 73 in the “Wonders of the Universe” section. The joy was great.

The accompanying text reads:

Nebula in the constellation Cygnus

“The picture was taken in the white nights. In the left image field, Sh2-119 dominates the field. In the center the North American Nebula NGC 7000 and next to it IC5070, the Pelican Nebula. Explains Wolfgang Zimmermann. "Four nights were necessary for this shot with an uncooled Canon EOS 80Da in order to get more density of the shot". The composite image consists of photographs taken in H-alpha light am28. June and July 1, 2022 (113x180s) and in light of the OIII line of doubly ionized oxygen of July 3 and July 4 (84x240s). An EF 2.0/135 mm L (f/2.8) lens was used.

Mitte August informierte mich der Verlag Spektrum der Wissenschaft, das eine meiner Schmalbandaufnahmen in der nächsten Ausgabe (10/2022) des astronomischen Fachmagazins „Sterne und Weltraum“ veröffentlicht werden soll. Das es dann gleich eine zweiseitiger Abdruck wird, hatte mich überrascht. In der Rubrik „Wunder des Weltalls“, ist es auf den Seiten 72 und 73 zu sehen. Die Freude war groß.
Der Begleittext lautet:

Nebellandschaft im Sternbild Schwan

„Die Aufnahme entstand in den weißen Nächten. Im linken Bildfeld dominiert Sh2-119 das Feld. In der Mitte der Nordamerikanebel NGC 7000 und daneben IC5070, der Pelikannebel“. Erklärt Wolfgang Zimmermann. „Vier Nächte waren notwendig für diese Aufnahme mit einer ungekühlten Canon EOS 80Da notwendig, um mehr Dichte der Aufnahme zu erlangen“. Das Kompositbild besteht aus Fotografien im H-Alpha-Licht am 28. Juni und 1. Juli 2022 (113x180s) sowie im Licht der Linie OIII des zweifach ionisierten Sauerstoffs vom 3. Juli und 4. Juli (84x240s). Zum Einsatz kam ein Objektiv vom Typ EF 2.0/135 mm L (f/2.8).
