Description

I started this near full moon but the sky was clear so decided to try my a star cluster. In this case it was M4. I think this is the farthest south I've imaged an object and it was low in the sky but I can't complain about the results especially since the universe didn't seem to want me to succeed.

About ⅔ of my red frames had satellite trails in the same place. This is despite being imaged on different nights. I ended up throwing a lot of red away because there were so many trails in the same spot that image rejection decided they were signal and not outliers.Strangely there wasn't a single trail in green or blue. Then when I went to process this after removing the problematic red, I somehow didn't notice that I omitted a bunch of green. I didn't notice until I was entering metadata here on astrobin. However, this was never intended to be a deep image and I didn't notice any problems when processing so I decided to go with it.

Processing was very simple:
dynamic crop
DBE
PCC
GHS (blend of RGB and color stretches)
Curves (contrast)

And that was it. I really like what GHS did with the cluster. And it was fun to spend a little time down in the muck to get an object that never rose high. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the final result!
