Description

Another clear night on Aug 8/9 with a mutual event of Ganymede eclipsing Europa so I set up for more early morning planetary imaging.  After the mutual event, the GRS was making its way across Jupiter's disk so I managed to capture it as it crossed the meridian.  This time I used a Meade 3x barlow just to see what the extra focal length could offer.  I captured a sequence of 10 5000 frame videos with a 30 second interval using my C8, Meade 3x barlow, IR cut filter and an ASI224MC camera.  The videos were stacked in AutoStakkert 3 keeping the best 2000 frames, sharpened in RegiStax6 and derotated and combined in WinJUPOS.  The resulting image was tweaked in Photoshop CC with some additional sharpening and noise reduction and saved as a .png file.

The seeing was a bit above average.  All in all, I am quite pleased with the final image.  I hope that you enjoy viewing it also.
