Description

NGC 2683 is fairly close to us as galaxies go, between 16 and 24 million light years depending on the source. It is also fairly bright at magnitude 9.7, yet it doesn't seem to be imaged very often which surprises me as I find it a pretty target with nice details.

My session did not go to plan, seeing was on the poor side and the transparency was quite variable. Worse, the corrector plate on the C11 frosting over in-spite of the dew strap. I did managed to capture 30min each in RGB before the dew set in. However I only got 30 minutes of a planed 90 in Luminance and that was shot with the inner 1/3 of the corrector covered in dew, leading to a FWHM of 7 for the Lum frames vs. 3 for the RGB. Still the image came out OK, certainly better than I expected when I packed up.
