Description

This object is an open star cluster located 1800 light years away in the constellation of Auriga at a declination of +41 degrees. This magnitude 5.4 cluster of 30 stars spans 25 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 13 light years.

Open clusters vary considerably in their beauty. I prefer open clusters with a variety of different sizes, colors, and brightnesses, and I really like this one because it has all of those characteristics. As a plus, this part of the sky is not very dusty, with the stars only reddened by 0.1 magnitude.
